Voltage safety?

When my XP220+ was running at 1920Mhz I had to set the voltage at 1.775 to run stable but here is the crazy part at 2006mhz at 1.775 volts the cpu would lockup and after tweaking on it for awhile I found out to run 2006mhz the voltage has to be 1.750 to run stable.
Is there any logical reason for this is it just chaos theory?
