Overclocking info/help
I just purchased another computer in which I would like to beef up as this will be my main media/game PC therefore was reading into overclocking to I can modify the performance to get more. Please bare with me as I'm new to this and any help is appreciated!
My PC is Lenovo 3000 H230 Specs:
OS Win764bit
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.6GHz
4.0GB DDR3-1066(PC3-8500)
Interface: SATA 3G
Capacity: 1TB HD
Speed: 7,200RPM
Video Card: GIGABYTE GV-R467ZL-1GI Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Would like to get the processor to 3.0GHz+ IF possible and or any other tweaks.

Depends on whether your motherboard will allow it. Thats a really mild overclock, but you'll need to check your temperatures now to see if you need an better cooler. Have you read some of the guides on this site? (very helpful!!)

In the process of reading all I can to get a better understanding of things.
Any good link to where I can see about my temps and if my motherboard will allow this mod?
I wasn't aware that a bump from 2.6to3.0GHz was a small, in that case IF my setup allows I would love to run as highest I can while still maintaining reliability.

well, hwmonitor (google it) has a good summary of all your component's temps. I really don't know a lot about lenovo and their products, but if you get into your bios and there is only like 2 options chances are you can't overclock.

My motherboard is a Lenovo 58KT34AUS I believe and my temps for my cores are as follows.
35-42C Core1
31-38C Core2
Can someone give me a rough idea of how much I would be able to bump my 2.6Ghz Pro without needing any major modifications or parts like cooling systems and high end psu's...

ok, the E5300 has been known to overclock to 3.6ghz with out any voltage increases, your ratio would be as follows: 333 bus speed x 11 multiplier. More voltage = higher temperatures, so if its unstable i wouldn't increase the voltage as it may overheat that intel stock cooler. Depending on your power supply that shouldn't be that tough, but i would definitely look into it and make sure its at least 400 watts or more with a decent current rating. After research, many have been reaching 3.2 ghz with the stock intel cooler. Download CPUZ, orthos, and prime95 (all available for free), read the guides on how to effectively use them for system stability once your overclock is applied. My advice to you would be to get it to 3.0 (272 x 11), run prime95 and check temperatures. Get it to 3.2 (290 x 11), run prime95 and check temperatures (you get the pattern...). Once your happy with your overclock, run prime95 (you can run orthos instead, your preference) for at least 24 hrs to ensure stability and temperatures. This advice and the guides available in the sticky's should be enough to get your overclock.
As far as the motherboard goes, try to get into your bios at the startup screen and see what ya got for options. Can you change fsb? multiplier? cpu voltage? memory speed/voltage? Overclocking is a skill that takes a lot of learning for first timers. I could sit here and write paragraphs on what to look out for, but figuring it out and learning from the guides these people have generously supplied us is the best ya get for ocíng. If ya still need help please post! Either me or others here that are more than knowledgeable about ocing will help.

Will do, thanks for your input. I would definitely be reading up on this.
Would be nice if I could find a write up walk through guide for my cpu as Im afraid to cause any damage by not taking the proper precautions or simply just mess up.

Well turns out I cant oc my oem mobo as I know for most of you that's a given, but I'm new at this. Anyways I did hear of another way but of course since I'm new to this whole thing I'm not aware of the pros/cons or even if I really can.
Basically what I heard is that I can bump up my E5300 CPU to 3.6GHz without needing any voltage increase with software out there that CAN do this but its only a maybe as all cpu's are different(Thanks Matt)so does ANYONE have any experience with this software and lend me a hand...... Much appreciated!!!!!!Anyone?????

Presumably someone has mentioned software overclocking to you, which you can do with a few utilities such as Clockgen or SetFSB. To do this you will probably have to know what PLL your motherboard uses, unless by chance a utility already supports your board.
