how to oc amd 64??

Hi guys!!! I'm trying to oc my com
AMD 64 3000+ (skt 754-Newcastle)
DFI LanParty UT 250Gb
2X512MB Kingmax DDR433
128MB Sapphire Atlantis 9800Pro 256bit
ACBEL 400W PSU with active PFC
I don't really know where to start coz there are so many options. So far,I have just increased my fsb by 10MHz in increments of 1MHz (i don't really know what's the usual increments so just to stay on the safe side i started with 1MHz. I don't really know what to do from there and is there a way to control the speed of my ram and increase the speed of my processor (my ram sucks). How do I increase voltage too?? I'm really very blur about all this and I would really appreciate any help or a link to a good article. Thanks in advance!!!

p4... or AMD it's all the same... It doesn't mater if it is AMD or Pentium at this point. It all depends if you execute to the corresponding chipset. Their is no losers as long that every body participates...

only difference in ocing p4s or axps as opposed to ocing a64s is the ram - the ram no longer works with an fsb divider but instead works in a divider off the cpu (even though they let you see a memory max speed which is done in a similar format to dividers (i.e. 200=1:1; 166=5:6; etc) - they are actually at dividers off the cpu and hence will not be perfectly accurate (sometimes not even close)).

AMD released a speed table for ram speeds with different multis and dividers but only gives u speeds at the stock HTT (200Mhz)

i attached a proggy i made that calculates the a64 ram speeds; it seems pretty accurate for whole number multipliers but with the 7.5s, 8.5s, etc it may get it wrong (last i checked but i fiddled with it since then)

also just remember the other difference is that they no longer have an fsb but they have a HTT which is similar except it controls the whole system (sb and nb) and has an adjustable multi (p4s always 4 and axps always 2)

Talking celeron 333 overclock

I want overclock a Slot 1 Celeron 333 MHz processor what tool(s) would I need to overclock the processor? The Intel utility does not support it. What is a safe overclock point for it?

I thought it was overclocking for newbies.

More like a proffesional overclocker talking to himself on the AMD one.

Ok. I am not looking for an "extreme overclock",just a little toying around with some hardware that is soon to be replaced. I have found a ClockGen version that is compatible with my motherboard. Thats out of the way,so here are my specs.

1.8Ghz CPU, 128L2 cache@99mhzFSB Willamette core w/ default cooling.
2X128 PC2100 ram
Western Digital XX gig harddrive 8mb cache
Western DIgital XX gig harddrive
FX 5500 PCI.

I just want to experiment before I start messing with my good stuff. CPU idle 32-39 idle (it does get hot here). Gets upto 45-50 when playing Halo. With this CPU and this ram, what can I expect?
What can I use to test if my overclock is what you call "stable".
Note: I am not overclocking through my BIOS,and there is no overclocking option in my BIOS,so if I try to boot, and it wont boot an OS,then am I screwed?

*Edit*:Ok, so I went from 1.8 to 2Ghz and opened my Bittorent client (BitComet) and my system was "pausing",like playing a game and having 1FPS,and my CPU's temp went quickly from 40C to 43C. Is that a sign of instability?

Run something like the folding client (check sig) which runs your CPU at 100%. Temps don't really want to be over 50c, and if it comes up saying running again due to instability then downclock. There is a program that is slightly better for burning in your CPU, but I can't think of it to save my life. All the same, you should be folding anyway.
Also, you should make your own thread for this. Many people will not see this as it is a sticky with the last post being posted in 2004...
