Overclocking crapping up
hey guys.
I run a Pentium 4 630 3.0GHz at 3.8GHz. I have been running this for some time now but recently i got 1 more gig of ram, a 8800GT and a Thermaltake blue orb 2 so i can go to 4.0GHz to play crysis better. Last night i put the blue orb 2 on my cpu and the cmos reset so i put the overclock back on. This is were its stuffed up. Since i put the new cpu cooler on ive been having troubles with the blue screen on death that windows gives. It happens randomly and it only shows for 0.1sec so i cant read it. So now im running at 3.0GHz again ![]() Would this be the ram that is now stuffing it up? Thanks, EDIT: Motherboard : GA-8I945P-G-RH Ram in slot 1 (the older stuff) : Kingmax Mars DDR2 PC5300 Ram in slot 3 (new ram) (Dual Channel) : Elixir DDR2 PC5300 Last edited by MrSmoke : January 28th, 2008 at 04:44 PM. |

well i did run 2 Prime 95 tests for 1 hour cause i wanted to play css and i cbb to wait :P
i did find 1 thing that stuffed it up tho. There was a cable stuck in my GFX card fan and it wasnt spinning so it was getting 2 hot and turning my pc off. I wounder if it was also causeing the northbridge to get 2 hot and that cause the errors.... also, my motherboard doesnt let u change the multiplyer so my FSB was 200MHz and now is 250MHz. Im running at 3.76GHz atm and hope it works ![]() And the FSB : DRAM is 3:4 EDIT AGAIN: this is the elixir ram: http://www.digiconcepts.com/elixir_memory_10.htm the kingmax mars DDR2: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=252&num=1 Last edited by MrSmoke : January 28th, 2008 at 05:11 PM. |

ok im running cpu at 100% with a bat file i made that just loops "echo Hi" and i opened 15 of them. At 3.76GHz im getting about 59C. I thought that the thermaltake blue orb was good...thats wat i use to get with the stock cooler. Thats homo

Check the airflow in the rest of your case, or reseat the heatsink..

yer the air flow is good and so is the heatsink.
But i still get the blue screen with the memory error that pops up for 0.2sec so i cant read it. I get it lately when xp is loading. |

were do i set that? BIOS cause i cant see anything apart from the system memory multiplyer

ok when i set that so the memory clock is lower i get the error as well. I wonder if its not the overclock and something else.
If its not the overclock what else could it be because i had my clock at normal and i got the error once or twice but i dont have the error today and im running at 3.76GHz......Hummmmm |

Go to Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced Tab.......Under Start-Up and Recovery, uncheck the automatically restart box. At least this way you'll be able to read the error code.......this will help us help you narrow down your prob ![]() I would also take out the "old" ram and run memtest on the "new" ram ........to see what kind of,if any errors you get
