Not sure if it will help you but the chipset is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100.

Not unless he figures out the PLL on the board.(Although through trial and error it can be found maybe) He can use something like SetFSB to OC inside windows on the fly but due to the BIOS being locked he will not be able to adjust voltage not to mention that the lack of any type of proper cooling would actually be able to be utilized. You will not be able to fry your ram as you will not have access to the any voltages associated with it.

The only thing that you can do to help your ram is to use a app such as memset to tighten up the timings which I do not recommend as it is just not practical to have to set it up every time you run windows and saving a profile that would boot at desired setting could/would be disastrous.

You wanna make the lappy faster, just disable any and all eye candy and unnecessary services and let it run as light as possible

the lappy sucks the graphics card has no onboard ram, it has less than a gig of ram shard with the graphics card, and the fsb cant be changed thru the bios. Im not going to take the time to use a software work around to over cloack it but im still going to put xp on it and maby underclock it for a lower cpu temp. thanks for the coments but this pc kinda just sucks.

Agreeing with Brian, do a minimal load and try and get it down to a slim OS footprint (and remove as many extras as possible).

Is the laptop power settings set for "Laptop" or "Max Battery"? If it is then AMD 's PowerNow! should already be adjusting the CPU's frequency and voltage as needed. For example, my laptop's frequency normally is 400MHz at idle but jumps up to 2200MHz under load.
