Monitor Size for a Gamer
I use my computer almost entirely for gaming purposes, so my question regards mostly for playing computer games.
Since my current, old monitor (BenQ LCD 19" 4:3) is dying I need to buy a new monitor.
I want to buy a monitor that is 24" (16:9, 1080p, LED), given the fact that a larger monitor usually provides a better, higher quality, gaming experience (or so i've heard).
The only problem is that i'm afraid that the monitor size might be too big for me because of the distance i'm sitting away from it (kinda like sitting in the front row of a movie theater).
The distance between my eyes and the screen is 23".
Is that too close to play games for such a monitor size?
Some quick notes:
1. The "Arm's length" rule pretty much applies here, with my arms being just slightly longer than 23".
2. My table is wide enough for even a larger screen so space is not a problem.
3. My table is not that deep so the distance above is as far as I can get from the screen, and I find it uncomfortable to lean back while i'm playing.

Personally I use a 22" 2ms for gaming( 30-34inches away),
smaller is better at about 2 feet
any bigger will give me headaches after long use.
The ms is more important! Lower the better.
24" and up is great for movies
but the mouse moves get a little frantic
and the bigger the monitor less the detail
as the resolution stays the same but being so close
you see the roughness of the pixels.
The V-card also has to work less driving a smaller area upping frame rate which also helps.

Go to a big electronics store and look, it's your eyes!
Get What you are comfortable with!
You may end up liking a cheaper model than the TECKnicks suggest.
So make yourself happy and
I old man like me uses/likes a different monitor than a 16 year old,
because Our eyes are different (and personal likes are too ).

Guess I'm getting old too... I used to use a 22 inch monitor and bumped up to a 27... It was a big adjustment at first but now I can't imagine going back. I work about 2-3 feet from the monitor all day long....

I got a 24" at 1920x1200 a few months ago, I recommend this resolution over the 1920x1080, especially for games. You'll get used to the larger size pretty quick. I've never felt the monitor was too big or too close to me.
As you're planning on gaming, make sure your video card can handle the extra load.
