Mag LCD Power Problem?
Having a problem with my Mag platinum series 19" lcd monitor. when computer is turned on screen displays image then goes black and does not come back on. Green light on monitor power button is on, but if I shut the computer off light turns yellow. While computer is on if I remove video cable from computer and plug it back in screen will briefly display image then go black again. This also happens if I unplug the power supply from the back of monitor then plug it back it. Monitor is less than 1.5 years old.. Any help is appreciated..

exactly what do you mean by 'image'?! does the BIOS show, does it black as soon as it enters the OS bootup?! Which OS do you use?

sorry for the lack of information, the image that appears is the bios screen upon starting the computer for a second then it just goes black.

Well, for starters, you can rule out a computer being a problem by simply plugging the monitor into another machine. If it works, then it is obviously the monitor, or something affiliated with it.

I have two of these and both have done the same thing basically since the beginning. Doesn't matter what computer they are attached to.
The company doesn't want to repair them saying that it is cheaper to buy a new one.
It means that all those CRTs and LCDs are disposable. it also means that all that crap goes into landfills. Pity the next generations.
Ithink that people having problems with MAG should band together and get back at them.
I am sending my screens to the CEO, and I will include a Power Point presentation about greed and human stupidity in relation to the environment. I teach Green Architecture to over a thousand architects a year (big users of LCD for CAD design) and also give public lectures to the public at large. Mag is used as an example of how gross that industry can be.
Your MAG screens are obsolete junk. The company refused to fix them even if I paid for it. They are immoral and disserve to be put out of their misery. Don't buy any more products from them.

me too..
Unfortunately, I'm to am a fellow disgruntled MAG user..
I have a 1 year old, 19" LCD.. Same boat. The monitor displays the picture for about 2 seconds and then the screen goes black, with the power light remaining green.
With one difference........I can use the monitor for a couple of hours before it begins to exhibit this behavior. Once the symptoms start though I have to turn it off and wait a few hours and I can use it again.. This is unacceptable..
I've tried it on multiple computers to find the same result.
Has anyone had theirs repaired or fixed the problem themselves...? If so what was replaced, repaired, etc... I've heard bad circuits, bad power inverter, bad bulb so who knows. Really...who knows?
I'm fairly confident that I can rule out the bad bulb.. I can look down into to it and see that it is glowing.. The glow is dimmer than when the monitor displays a picture, but still it glows. I would think I'd be able to see a dim image on the screen still, and it doesnt explain why I would be able to use it for a couple of hours prior to the symptoms. I wish it was the bulb.
Anyway, I've got mine ripped open and am going to start checking the boards this week. I'm no electronics expert, so this could take a while..
I'll keep you posted on my progress, good or bad.
Just for the record..This is very disturbing.

yeah, I found the problem.. I forgot to post my findings..
The problem ended up being a bad power inverter board, or something on the power inverter board.. I've been looking off and on for someone who sells this inverter but havent had much luck..
If I were an a electronics whiz, I would try and repair it.. but I'm not.. I can check continuity, voltage, etc..and can soldier decently, but this is out of my league.. Plus, it's cheaper for me to buy another monitor than to buy all the equipment I would need to do the repair 'properly'.
Anyway if anyone knows where I can get an inverter board, let me know.. Obviously, I've tried looking on ebay for monitors with broken screens and good inverters..

My Mag monitor is about 2 years old. It takes over 5 minutes to "warm up" . I called Mag tech support with no help, except to hear comments like, be patient...or buy another one. I will never buy another Mag product. It seems that a lot of people are having the same problems with these monitors, and the manufacturer is just ignoring the issue. Write your congressmen...we should have a Mag Monitor recycling bin in each city to save on the landfills.

MAG sucks...
I know noone has posted on this thread in over a year but I wanted to share my two cents. My 17 inch MAG LCD is making a "buzzing" sound when turning on and flickering , sometimes I have to turn it off and on again to get it to start up...I wont be buying another monitor from them...but if anyone has any info on this or has had any luck witht he company since the previous posts please let me know. I would love to stick it to a company like this, after seeing the other posts theyre obviously money hungry morons.

If your monitor is not coming back on after sleep then I would suggest make sure drivers are installed for the monitor and then try changing the video card drivers and or the video card itself. Could also be some setting in your operating system. Also try setting the monitor up on another computer and see if the same problem exists. If so then maybe there is a problem with the monitor.
