Help in choosing a GLOSSY replacement lcd panel for a Y470
hi! I am looking for a replacement panel for my new laptop, Lenovo Y470. I upgraded from a sony vaio VGN-NW120J ( http :// www . pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2349827,00.asp [sorry for a URL, just want to make sure you can see what I am comparing to] ), and the Lenovo machine has been great in everything but the screen. Both have 1366x768 screens, VAIO 15.6 inch, Y470 14 inch, but VAIO's screen seems to have been of a much, much higher quality. My Y470's screen looks grainy/pixelated in comparison, as I can discern white/gray lines in between the pixels if I look closely. Having used it for 4-5 days already, I have mostly gotten used to it, but it still hurts my eyes/head. My panel was made by AUO, apparently Y470 come with panels from AUO or LG, and the LG ones are usually a bit better. I will be calling the support soon, seeing if I can send in my laptop for an LG panel replacement. In case that doesn't happen, or if the LG screen isn't good enough either, I would like your advice on what panel to get! Ideally, I want a screen at least as good as my VAIO's -- crystal clear picture, no headaches, etc. The 1366x768 resolution is fine -- in fact my motherboard allows only 30 pin connectors, so I think it's the highest I can get (unless you can teach me how to expand that capacity? Apparently it's 40 pins, but 10 of them go to in-built mic and camera, so I would lose those if I picked a higher resolution). In any case, I don't care that much about resolution, as about the general quality and not-graininess. I would prefer to spend no more than $100, I will be using it for office/college stuff, some movies, some gaming (gt 550m 1 gb). And to reiterate, as long as it's as good as VAIO's, I would be very happy! Thanks a lot!
