Frequency is out of range
Whenever i try to start my computer i get a small rectangular blue screen with a red band prompting me that frequency is out of range.I see two things the hf range 63khz and vf 60hz and the appropriate range is mentioned below as
hf:30-54khz
vf:30-90hz
my hf range has exceeded the limit somehow and i just can't understand how to bring it back to the optimum range.
I have 2 operating systems installed on
my computer.I am able to start win 2000 but not win 98 because i get the blue screen saying out of frequency message.I tried to go to the safe mode but it would not let me since it gives me the same message over and over again.
Even i am facing the exact issue and have 2 operating systems installed on
my computer.I am able to start win 2000 but not win 98 because i get the blue screen saying out of frequency message.I tried to go to the safe mode but it would not let me since it gives me the same message over and over again.

Techsavvy? funny, not a knock to you...just an interesting screen name concerning your problem.
Anyway, you should still be able to go into safe mode if you hit F8 before it actually goes into windows. That's why WinCrap put that funcition there, cause they knew crap drivers would have to be backed off from. Hit F8, the vid is vga 640x480, and you should be able to scale it back.
peace

Interesting.
I just got Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines and installed it and got basically the same error message.
when i click the VMB exe to run the game my monitor goes black and a window pops up in the center of the screen stating "Out of Frequency" along with some frequency #'s
HF 98.1kHz
VF 150.0Hz
Operating Frequency
HF 30-90kHz
VF 50-160Hz
The error message seems to be from the monitor itself and not windows.
Power management on my monitor will give me a set amount of time like 15 seconds and then my monitor will hibernate.
First time i've ever run into this problem and my PC is over 2 years old now but still good enough to run games like HL2 and Doom 3 on high video settings.
I'm not sure if my "out of frequency" message is due to being too high or too low and what do about either way.

I had the same problem with my computer when playing Vimpires the Masquerade: Bloodlines. My moniter would pop up an hz? warning sign.
So I change the Resolution and Screen Refresh rate to all different types. That didn't help any.
Then I change my moniter's drivers from SyncMaster 997df to normal Plug and play driver and now it working just fine.
So if there is any one out there with SyncMaster 997 (not just df) you might want to try to use plug and play, and not the drivers that come with the moniter.

Enable BSOD: Control Panel/Systems, Advanced Tab, hit the Settings button under Startup and Recovery, and under the System Failure area, uncheck the Automatically Restart checkbox.

Oh ya i thought it was my video card at the time. I had a Geforce 5700. Soon there after I upgraded to a Geforce 6800 and i still got the same problem.
It is when i change the moniter's drivers to plug and play is when it started to work.
But if you have not it would be a good idea to update your video card drivers.

Arkan543 was right. You have to change the moniter's drivers to plug and play. I had a "Mag Xj810" monitor and i looked up with google for the place where i could download the drivers manually from the website and manually installed it under plug and play drivers. Than it works. Thx arkan!

Frequency is out of range
I had the same prob with Vampire Bloodlines, monitor freq
out of range. it drove me nuts for a few hrs, then i figured out how to fix it. changing the monitor driver may work but in my case it did not. what you have to do is run dxdiag, the microsoft direct-x diagnostic tool. goto more help. click on the last button, which says, "click on this button to override direct draw's refresh rate". put the number 60 into the box. this will resolve the problem and the game will run flawlessly! shit drove me nuts for hours, lol! good luck and have fun!

I have kinda the same problem, except my computer just won't start up at all. It powers up then brings the message and doesn't go anywhere after that. The monitor's not the problem coz I plugged it into another CPU and it worked fine. Could the prob be with my video card?
