Question DELL 2005FPW LCD Ghosting problem..

I'm running the 20" widescreen dell 2005fpw (1680x1050), off an NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go 64mb graphics card (analog not DVI connection), powered by a dell latitude D800 notebook pentium mobile 1.6mhz, 1gb ram.

I've updated my graphics drivers, installed the relevant monitor drivers, tweaked the phase and pixel clock options in the monitors OSD (On Screen Display menu system), I've even run the monitors Auto Adjust feature while using NVIDIA's display calibration tool (displays bands of colours and fine black lines tohelp improve improve calibration).

My problem? severe vertical ghosting from dark lines (specifically black, including text, both very distracting).

Is this a monitor problem, a grahics card problem, or a monitor fault, or a graphics card fault!...

--- UPDATE ---

just plugged it into my mac (G4 733mhz) again powered off an analog connection and the shadowing was pracitally nil - that eliminates the monitor being at fault.

am i to assume if I power off a DVI connection the shadowing may reduce off the laptop? (need to buy a £30 laptop desk port which has a DVI connection off it to test this!)

Black lines across the screen, and when you switched systems the lines went away...that points directly at your vid card. Since you already updated the drivers, it's not going to be that. Of course I'm just restating the obvious...
