CRT Monitor shows a trembling image

Hello,
My Sony Trinitron Multiscan 210 ES 17" monitor that was bought on the end of 1999 and used to work very well, since a few days shows a trembling image. Now I'm in doubt about either repairing it (it was not used a lot) or changing it with a newer LCD one.
I'll be grateful to you if you give me a suggestion about, and in case you are in favour of a replacement with a LCD one, please, let me know the better ones (brand and model) taking into account that I need a VGA connection, necessary for my Iogear KVM switch that I'm using to share keyboard, monitor and mouse between a Mac and a PC.
Best Regards,
Alberto Zeni

That usually is a sign (correct me if I'm wrong) of an electrolytic capacitor in the monitor going bad ... while you can replace them, I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you're very comfortable with a soldering iron. These types of repairs are cheap to fix ... by yourself. If the movement is horizontal, well, then it could be a driver circuit.

It could also be a video card driver problem (or video card for that matter) - but I doubt it. It could also be because of interference - how close is the monitor to your computer? Speakers?

At any rate I would replace the monitor - but I don't have any good recommendations.

Try going into the monitor's settings and looking around for Horizontal and Vertical sync's and I forget what the other settings are called. I haven't used CRTs in years, but I remember messing with some, and I could make it so the whole image shook and made you dizzy / sick if you tried to use it. Try resetting it to factory settings.

Haven't had one in a while but you could try 'anti-gausing' it, I think it was called, its in the menu usually, that fixed some odd movement with my old one!
