Buying a new monitor. Suggestions? Purpose: dev & gaming

Hello all.

I am looking to purchase 3 monitors over time. I will buy one now, then the other two in less than a year after I build a new computer (will buy two identical to the first). Eventually, it will be a triple-monitor setup. I will be using these monitors for Web Development & Design, and Gaming. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my research has pushed me towards considering an LED monitor with a high refresh rate. This being said I'm looking at the Dell UltraSharp U2311H.

At work, I have one single 27" iMac and while I'm not a fan of the OS the quality is phenomenal. If I could get something in the same ballpark quality for under $500/monitor that would be great. Under $300 would be ideal, but quality does cost.

I currently have a 19" HP w1907 and would like a nice size increase. Would the 23 inch Dell satisfy my spoiled familiarity with a 27" Apple monitor? (note: I dont want one giant monitor, but 2+ decent sized monitors.. multiple > one gigantor).

All advice and suggestions is greatly appreciated.. I'm a maximizer who lays awake at night afraid I made the wrong long-term purchase. Thank you, and have a good evening.
