Youre going to need a 12v dc+ power source for the inverter. Just for a heads up

It seems to me that you can quite easily find LCDs for around 100 euros on ebay, which is not exhorbiant. I want to do the same, but I 'm still lacking money at the moment... But yeah. Hooking up laptop LCDs to standard graphics cards is a pain in the ass. You won't need an inverter, or at least I don't think you will, since you will not be using a backlight, obviously, as the OHP has it's own light source, much brighter than standard cold cathode/neon bakclights. I say that you're best off just finding a 15" off Ebay and then taking off the back panel and backlight and then just mounting it like that. No need to rip everything apart imo. I don't know if I'm making sense, but yeah. No lappy LCDs, it really is more trouble than it's worth...

that why they placed a fan blowing through the lcd, im planning to about 4 fans blowing through it, just so it doesnt bail on me.
Ok, so no one knows how to wire up the laptop lcd to pc then? ok fine. I could try a normal lcd panel but i need one for cheap then. This should be great when finished ![]() |

I am so going to build one of these. Heh, you could always get an old laptop and just take it apart, using the screen as the base for the projector and the motherboard/components for the computer. Could build a custom projector and put the computer in there as well. Wouldn't be what you wanted, but from the outside it'd do what you need

i've been trying to use an old laptop 13" TFT screen with my computer for at least a year. theres no info on it at all. Basically, that complex ribbon that's comming out of the laptop LCD needs to be converted to VGA the only way i've found to do this, would be to find/buy a cheap LCD desktop panel, rip it apart, and and hope the converter inside will work with the panel you have.

I have a really old laptop LCD (its a 10.8") and it only has one ribbon. That means that it gets both its power and signal off of that same place. They are a nightmare to hook up. I don't even know if they are standard VGA... Mine really sucks though, passive matrix. You should see what it looks like playing DOS games

There's quite a bit of waste here at U of D. In the basement of a Lab down the street that are at least 10 CRTs and a number of assorted computer-type beige boxes. Odds are I'd be able to get my hands on a projector. Got it in mind to do a computer mod for that one, too. I think I'll replace my CRT idea with one of a projector computer
