PS3 Controller (PowerA) Will not work on PC, Help appreciated.
I bought a PowerA Playstation 3 Controller and it will not work via my computer... I don't understand why it will not. I had a buddy over and tried his sixaxis controller (Controller that comes with the PS3) worked fine along with Motion Joy. Here's how it went down..
When he was over a few days ago we plugged it in and windows found the drivers, I then installed Motion Joy and they found drivers as well.. I opened the program I wanted to play and the controller worked (except for the analog sticks I figured I'd figure that out when I got a controller myself). Motion Joys tests worked as well too..
I now plug in my new PowerA controller, which is nicer than the sixaxis imo, and no drivers nothing pops up on windows. Motion Joy also does not recognize anything. I'm generally smart with this kind of stuff, I've tried alot of different things to get it to work. Uninstalled motion joy and re installed etc..
I just can't Imagine why it wont work ... Please help! If you know any other programs that might work let me know.. Thank you

You have not told us anything about your configuration, what controller or abotu you PC and OS. So for starters assuming you are using a USB cable controller and your hardware and software can support it (ie it is just a configuration problem).
When you first setup as new controller you have to press the home key to get a USB channel assigned to it.
Possibly because this was already done on your friends unit it allowed it to work with Motion Joy. Can you see if your controller works and can be setup on your friends PS3?
If you do not get anyware with the home key or trying it on your friends PS3 first tell us a little more about the model, PC and OS you are running don't forget 32 or 64 bit.
Either way let us know how you went so others may be able to use what you have figured out.

For your windows 32 or 64 bit.
2GB of memory is not great and will cause noticeable paging which slows everything down.
For games what are your graphics card and game (video) settings?
Gameplay will depend on the particular game. Newer games generally want more resources than older games.
You need to lower the video settings for your graphics card and game to as low as you can accept. The lower the settings the better the game play response but worse looking. Higher settings better looking but worse gameplay.

Well Motionjoy does sill not notice the controller.. SO that program with this specific controller (PowerA) did nothing. The controller only has full function in my PS2 Emulator not CSGO which is just the only other game i play.. Which i prefer Mouse/keyboard.
I have windows 32 bit and I can play CS:GO on full settings with my current setup. It just puzzles me that I can't play simple PS2 games at all without lag.. there has to be some setting I can change in the emulator, still tweeking around in it but have yet to find an answer.
And back to the controller to make it full functioning in all games I would suggest buying the Sixaxis controller or ones that are usable with PC.. There's very little info online to getting this thing to work on a PC.

| For PCSX2 you are over the minimum specs but below the recommended CPU spec (your need to be over those for games to play smoothly).
The emulator uses a lot of resources to make things work and for the CPU there is not much you can do other than get a faster CPU.
If your freinds computer is lower specs, then I would check his CPU and memory and what games is he playing that he claims 'run fine'. If he is running low end native PC games then that would make a big difference as there is no extra emulator in between the game and hardware.

Yea my friend is full of crap sometimes. I did read that Emulating the games takes a lot more usage of your PC than just playing games that are not emulation... There are some games on an emulator that take a lot more out of ur pc I'm going to try a different one now.
I heard that overclocking your CPU can make these run smoothe, SO John Frankk or anyone else do you know how I would go about SAFELY overclocking my CPU? I have an idea on how to do this I tried it with my old PC.. If I could get my CPU up a bit that would be cool would prob help in all games here's the exact CPU I have I think I was wrong in the previous post.
Intel Core 2 DUO CPU E6550@2.33GHZ/2.33GHZ, Would be nice to get this up to about 2.7 or so, how do I do this? Would be cool to experiment with without blowing up my PC. I do have the ASUS P5NE-SLI Motherboard, with 2 GIG 500 watt PSU. Thanks!

Thanks! | In all overclocking there is an element of risk that something might go wrong and your machine become damaged, just stop working or worse something more dramatic happens.
I know the technical side of overclocking but I am not an overclocking person.
I honestly doubt any minor overclocking would fix the emulation issue.
We have plenty of threads about overclocking that you can read through here, in fact that is what these forums we first started about (before my time here). So read through some of the posts and if you get stuck or something does not make sense (after you have read up on it) post a question in that area.
