Computer Crashing playing wow

Hey guys, new to the forum.
Recently purchesed a new rig with more than adequate specs to run wow at full graphics but every single time i play my computer will crash at some point. I'm pretty sure its the gpu crashing as i hear the fan shutdown and turn back on. Sometimes the screens freeze for 10 to 15 seconds and then return to normal or sometimes the monitors just lose input and I'm left with just sound.
I dont get these problems running games such as Medal of Honor or Bioshock 2 at full graphics, which confuses me as i get a higher gpu and cpu temp reading for those games compared to world of warcraft.

My rig specs are;
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.31 GHz
MB: ASUS Crosshair-IV Formula
RAM: 16gb( 4x Vengeance 4GB) 1600MHz CL9
GPU: Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD6970,2GB,GDDR5
PSU: 850W Corsair AX-850
and I've got my monitors wired through dvi at 1080p.

If you could help or think you might know the reason behind this than i would appreciate you replying.
Cheers

It could very well be that you have drivers out of date. Your computer is certainly capable of running WoW with no problems. My suggestion would be to update ALL (every single one) of your drivers. Graphics, bios, chipset, audio etc etc.

I had this problem a few months ago, and all I had to do was update my video drivers, so you may want to start there.

Good luck, I hope you can work it out.
