The as yet unnamed YY Cube

Well, here's the nearly completed modding of the Yeong Yang cube case. Here's a pic of what it looked like before

Once I get the fan controller in there, and do some wire management, I'll update with pics of the top and "drive side".

It's a pretty cool case! Too bad it's loud as hell... the new girlfriend won't even sleep here! Time for some panaflo's methinks...

The stock cooling on this case blows goats. You really need to put those ducts I put in there. Otherwise, it's just drawing air through plastic, which does fuck all.

Thanks Sov. The CCFL's were supposed to be red... but they are more orangy. I dont' know why, but they are. Main thing is they aren't blue. Blue = boring when everyone has the same thing. This case will rock once I get all the water cooling goodies here. So much room for bigass rads and keeping everything internal. No LAN parties for this box though, unless I want to displace a disk in my back again...

It's just what came with the window kit I got from Coolerguys. Nothing too special there, but it was redicously easy to install, and make look decent. Much better than my last attempt using that rubbery tubing shit that you have to lock between the lexan and the case...

I really need to get some of that rubbery tubing shit but I cannot afford it so I think I may just use some wire casing on the metal and bolt on the window. no offence but the window needs more shape instead of just a box. I like curves I guess the square looks kind of dull.

Oh yeah, it would look better if the window had some shape to it. Problem is that the last time I tried that... well lets just say the results weren't pretty and I ended up buying a new side panel to replace my hack job. This does have a lot of visability though, and that is something else I was striving for, biggest window I could really fit in there. Not to show off the boring air cooling, but so that it's pretty friggin obvious that I have water cooling (when I get that in there). When I move on to a "BTX" case in a year or two, I'll try the elite dremeling skillz again with a more interesting window.

What did you use to cut the intake holes, dremel? Is this case as thick as an Antec steel case? It looks sweet, bro, I'm debating getting one myself.

Yep, just a dremel. Same for the top.

It's thicker than the Antec steel. I went through an awful lot of dremel cut-off wheels putting in the fan holes and the window. Not a big deal, as that shit is cheap.

To have both those intakes, I needed to take out the speaker, and remove the full length PCI card holder. Again, just more work for the dremel. You could just put in one 120mm instead, but I wanted two 92's for the radiator that will be sitting right there.

Wow! That is extremely awsome! What inspired you to use that case?

What kind of ducting is that in the front and where did you get it? Yeah, I'm new...

Oh, sorry to revive an old topic... I guess I should make myself more aware of the dates on these posts.
