Stay away from PCI slot fans. They don't work (they're a bit like Dells, for that matter)

Your best bet is indeed to take a hacksaw to your case. Go big, 12cm fans are quieter and more effective than 8cm fans.

This will propably mean making a hole in the side of your case, (or possibly 2). Depending on the orientation of your CPU fan, this can be more effective positioned above the CPU, or above the expansion slots. (if you go for two, do both :-) )

If you want durability, go ball bearing, if you want quiet, go sleeve bearing and replace it every other year.

Why exactly do you want to add another fan?

Your CPU is cooled quite adequately by the duct, the harddisks and chipset by the PSU fan, and the vidcard is passive anyway, and knowing Dell won't need anymore.

I wouldn't bother adding anything. Putting more powerful hardware in this case (the only reason to improve the cooling) would be like putting a ferrari engine in a 2CV: You'd just tear it apart.

Leave this as it is, and if it becomes insufficient, build a real computer, with a proper case.

if it's overheating that fast it might have to do with the fan on the video card itself. Sometimes the fans are set to throttle down and sometimes they dont throttle up correctly when the proc gets hot. What video card is this?
