Question on 3D Mark06 et al

looking at the list of scores, on the 3DMark06 rankings, there is only one ATI graphics chip, a X1900 and the score is far below the Nvidia 7800GTX top score.

is that;
a) because the bench mark is weighted to Nvidia technology? or
b) that's just the way it is? or
C) am I missing something?

... and also what effect does the CPU have on the total score? i.e. is it a lot or a little?

Well, computer configuration does make a difference, but in real performance the X1900XT and the 7900GTX are basically the same, so there could be a multitude of things that could cause a result like that.

The Nvidia system mave have been in SLI, whereas the ATI system could have been just a single card.

I dont know.

Things like memory speed/amount, cpu and its speed all can make quite significant differences in scores.
