madhyena agrees: Old school is okay, we will compete in percentages, I think.
Nope, that's not how it works, it seems. If you spend loads of monies on your rig, you get more points...
Kind of a shame really, it alienates a lot of people who would otherwise do this.. People with A64s, for example, and something less than an 8800, they may feel they can't really compete.
But it looks like the rules are set for this year...

Lol Mphill...
I'm in...
Now how can I come up with $2000 for that rig I've been wanting to build... *ponders*
But I have a feeling we are f***ed... since Brian is the only one here who seems to like to spend money on his rig... although he may have enough for 1 for each of us... I call dibs on one of his e6600's... We'll go break into his house next weekend be ready

Now thats where you are wrong. I like spending money on my rig.
Just that I don't have any money and I want my car worth more than my computer. I just buy bulk. More pc power for less.

Most of the monster systems will be in teams A thru C
but the D & E teams will also be listed next to the other D & E teams from the other forums. believe it or not this works for all systems because there are 20 spots to fill to win the overall championship... So enter with what you have and if you do a new build before the posting deadline... enter it too.
Ray
let's start a list of names on the first post or create a new thread for sign ups.... we/you also need a few Forum cops to verify your scores... any takers???

First of all, DevHardware Forums has a strict rule regarding editing post(s) and that is “posts older than 30 days cannot be edited.”
“Due to security issues and the need to ensure the quality of our knowledgebase, we have had to impose a 30 day limit on the ability for regular users to EDIT their posts. What this means, is that users have the ability to edit their own posts for 30 days after creating it.” - Source: Forum Rules.
Therefore, a member with higher permissions (i.e., moderators, administrators) must be chosen —assuming that s/he is volunteering— for this delicate situation. Nonetheless, this definitely won’t be an issues for our community.
Second, I have a few questions that are related to this competition. I am neither aware of the details and nor am up-to-date with rules, so forgive my (possible) ignorance. First: Are we limited to submit benchmarks only with specific number of builds, say, one or can we compete with multiple systems? If no, competing with several setups in each of the groups but remaining with only one rig per group (from A to E) is allowed? If neither, it is okay.
Second:When does the competition starts? Is that "forum cop" supposed to validate the content on a very frequent basis (multiple times per day) or just say, twice per week is enough? We will take care of this issue, too.
I have found the answers to the aforementioned questions that are struck-through here (Official Forum Wars 2007 Rules).
Thanks in advance for the further clarifications and we're looking forward hearing from you.

Are there any rules on what can be a category D/E system? I notice you give a flat score for super pi 1M over 30 seconds, so even those categories can't be too slow, it has to be at least a pretty beefy A64 system...
And I'll be a forum policeman if it doesn't take too much work (it'll just mostly be comparing scores to hwbot and the like, right?).
EDIT: Ah, I see there are absolutely no rules as to what category a rig can be in... So if a forum has 20 people with Conroes/quads and 8800s, everyone else is screwed?
