X1650 display problems

Hi everyone!

I recently switched from a Geforce 5200 to a ATI Radeon X1650. Everything worked fine for a week, but last week I restarted the PC, and when it came back up the screen was black and it acted like it wasn't hooked up. I checked and everything looked good. I restarted and had the same problem. I then booted into safe mode, and uninstalled the drivers. When I restarted there were vertical rainbow colored lines on the screen. I started it in VGA mode and everything was Ok while the resolution was 800 by 600. I tried to switch and the screen went black. I had the current drivers installed from the ATI web site, but they didn't work. I tried the newest Omega drivers, and even some of the older drivers. Nothing works.

I am running Windows XP service pack 2, with 2GB of RAM, and a 2.53 Ghz processor. Power supply is 400W. Everything works fine when in safe mode, or when I boot to my Linux drive. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I get the exact same problem with a Sapphire Radeon X1650 Pro AGP 256MB. Once I've opened up a program on my computer, I get a black screen. And the card seems to have made Solaris 10 on my other drive to go weird. Now I can't log onto Solaris. I've noticed it's Ati's catalyst drivers and the actual .inf driver file. At the minute, I'm using my old yet trusty Asus V6800 (Nvidia Geforce DDR) with no problems.

512MB SDRAM, AGP 4x Bus, Windows XP Home Edition, 1.3Ghz Intel Celeron

The X1650 Sort Of Woks

Hi,
I've managed to get an X1650 working, but only with out drivers. I recieved a customer support ticket from AMD yesterday telling me this: Uninstall all Ati items from the computer including deleting registry keys via regedit.exe and installing Driver Clean Pro (which is free) and removing all Ati Drivers using the dropbox. It's also a good idea to uninstall your previous card drivers and erasing them using Driver Clean Pro. They also said to use Driver Clean Pro before editing the registry keys. So maybe we've cracked the so called 'Radeon Code'.

My X1650 Works With Catalyst 7.7!!!

Hi,
Once you've uninstalled all the ati references, get the graphics card cd and install catalyst 7.7. Reboot the system after the install. Then once you've logged on, the system might freeze. If this happens, cut the power on the PSU and then turn the system back on. The 'Radeon Code' has now been cracked. By the way, stick with Catalyst 7.7 because anything else won't work. By the way, my screen resolution is 1680 by 1050

Exclamation Game.AMD Display Drivers 8.4

Try these drivers, I done a bit searching myself. I find Catalyst causes more problems than anything else so try the display drivers. I never use Catalyst.

Try catalyst 7.12 and 7.4. I've heard rumors that this works. I haven't tried myself yet but have a go. There's nothing wrong with trying. . Radeon Code
