I have the same problem though worryingly I am running slightly hotter at 54C at rest!! But its odd even playing Assassin's Creed it doesn't seem to go any higher than about 62C.
The hottest I have ever seen it was 68C but that was a hot day... proberly should have been outside...
As for a solution... I have added another fan pointing straight at the card seems to keep it a little more under control, bit of a bodge!

Wow, guys... I think those temps. are rather low for a GPU, or at least right where they should be. Unless it's going above 70-75C I wouldn't really worry about it. I mean, GPUs always get hot, I've burned myself pulling out a heavily overclocked one right after turning the PC off

well those are what you would call "expected" temperatures. They may be a bit high but not really anything to worry about (unless you are getting problems, like artifacting, crashing, etc) but generally you should be fine. Every card tends to react differently to temps than another, my HD2900 for example was able to achieve 100c on stock cooling, and my 8800GTS 320 still on stock cooling can hit 80c.
GPUs can get very hot, but unless you are getting problems because of it, I wouldnt fret too much about it. You may wanna optimize your case if you havnt already, doing things such as tidying up the wires, cleaning your fans, replacing your fans, replacing the thermal paste on your heatsinks, and so forth can really have a pretty positive effect on temperatures.
