The TV player failed to initialize.

Hi --

Am hoping someone here can help me with further troubleshooting. Tried to register at the ATI site but cannot because they say my equipment doesn't exist.

Computer is a Dell 8300. Operating system is XP Pro with SP2 and all current updates. Graphics card is an ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro. Drivers are all up to date.

The TV tuner card has been working beautifully since I set it up many months ago but now will not run. I *think* it got messed up when I installed a webcam and a bunch of webcam software. Here's what I have tried so far:

Checked to make sure all cables were still plugged in firmly.

Removed from startup any video and/or messaging program that could possibly conflict.

Tried recommendation of an ATI representative found at another forum whereby you add this ;%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers to the path in the Windows System file.

Removed the webcam, all the drivers, all the related software.

Completely removed and re-installed all the ATI software.

Still no joy.

Can anybody suggest what I might try next to get my TV back?

Thanks.

Fixed it!

Am posting the resolution just in case anyone else is having a similar problem.

The error message that suggests checking to make sure that the correct video driver is installed is misleading.

Apparently there is a conflict between the Soundblaster audio card and the TV tuner. The webcam software had changed the default audio card to the Soundblaster, and this continued to be the default even though I uninstalled everything. As soon as I changed the Sound Playback Device (in my case, to Total Recorder), the TV again functioned.

Thanks to anyone who was contemplating my problem.

lol. i had a similar problem on my aiw 9600xt and aiw x800xl. im guessing your fix would apply to my x800xl. on my 9600xt, there were two main problems. one, the card would randomly die and a rma would be required and two: the newest drivers would install T200 streamer when the 9600 uses a philips tuner which requires 5 dirfferent drivers. basically i would have to install CCC 6.12 for it to work.

glad you got your problem fixed though!
