I used this guide Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart when I bought a new video card. Make sure you have a big enough power supply for whatever video card you choose. Some the higher end cards may require a bigger power supply than you have. For example, the ATI Radeon HD 5830 requires at least a 500W power supply. You can check the ATI Radeon HD 5000 Series requirements here.
