Question concerning Asus Ati Radeon HD 5870 v2

So anyone who has this card or knows about PSU connections and what not could you help me out here? The video card has two power connector slots next to each other and the other one has a basic 3 holes on top and bottom (2x3) and the second one has 4 holes on top and bottom (2x4).

The card came with two separate cables so do I need to use both of the cables or do I connect the cable with a 2x3 head to the corresponding slot and the other end of the cable which has two molex slots to my PSU's molex cables? Then do I need to connect my PSU's 6+2 pin PCI Express power cable to the 2x4 slot on the card?

The adapters it includes, which convert 2x 4-pin molex connections into the appropriate PCI Express power connections may be used, but is usually not recommended. If your power supply only included a single PCI Express power connection, then it probably wasn't built to power a card that can consume 190-200w, in addition to everything else in your PC.

Generally speaking, if your power supply does not have the appropriate power connections, then its probably not suited to run a card that requires them.

If your power supply has the 6-pin PCI Express power connection, and a 6+2-pin (or 8-pin) PCI Express power connection, then yes you use those and NOT the adapters that are included with the card.

If your power supply only has one of the two required power connection types, then yes you can use that in addition to the adapter cables, but only if your power supply is strong enough (a decent 500w or above).
