No Brainer?

I am about to order two HD4870 cf. However, I just wanted to double check with yall that it is as much of a no brainer as it seems to be when compared to the GTX280.

Any feed back you have will be awesome.

4870 crossfire ftw. 3870x2's are old news

As the drivers mature they will only get better.

If you are bent on going quadfire then when the 4870x2's come go for it.

What is the rest of your setup looking like?

Depends if you want fold with it now that the new GPU2 client is giving folders some great ppd.

With the clients/drivers right now the NVidia cards are cleaning up, a GTX280 would be getting massive ppd (I do not have one but have read there is a little to getting both chips running). At the moment the ATI cards are not scoring as well, apparently ATI went for stable code not performance hopefully in a future update that should change as the ATI has a lot of processing power on top.

Nice to meet you and hope whichever card you end up getting you can add some folding to them - both are impressive ppd compared to regular or SMP clients.

well the 4870x2 is looking to be 10x% faster that a dual 4870 setup due to having 2gigs of gddr5

Personally I would stay away from any X2 card....And how much of a gain will you see in real world gaming???...Not enough for $1200 dollars worth of Videocard.
Not to mention if one of the cores goes your stuck without til you get your RMA back
Been there done that with a 7900GX2....would never do it again.
Not to mention by the time really good drivers for the 4850GX2 come out there gonna be such a better card coming out the next fricken week.
And Like JohnFrank memtioned if your gonna Fold Again 2 GTX280's Nvdias in an SLI and folding with the GPU2 client would net you around 15,000 PPD
