Smile ATI Sapphire HD 4770 two versions- which ones best?

Hi,

I'm a noob to this forum. My question is,
there's 2 Sapphire HD 4770's the dual DVI, and the HDMI one. Which ones better?

I'm under the impression that the dual DVI version is better- as it's slightly more versatile with the tv out too.- the dual DVI one also comes with a DVI to HDMI out adaptor.- you get lots of outputs with the dual DVI one.

Sapphire official web page under the Product> graphics card tab, then selecting HD 4770 can see the cards-. (sorry newbies can't post links)

Any help/input would be useful, Thanks

Tony

I'd personally stick to the Dual DVI version, as it can be more flexible, especially if you're like me and you don't have a HDTV. You don't lose HDMI functionality on the Dual DVI version, but you do lose the Composite/S-Video Out on the HDMI-native version.

I learnt this the hard way with my HD 4830. Good luck! =D

EDIT: Oh and by the way...Welcome!

I agree with the poster above, in the end it all comes down to which monitor you are using.
I would personally prefer the dual dvi version as well, it can be pretty good with any mid range dispays, and having a card like this u cant really except it to perform good on huge HD screens in games anyways.

Hi,
thanks for your replies.

Just to let you know, i did end up opting for the dual dvi version- was hard to come by as is no longer in production.

I've already made use of the svideo out- connected it to my old tube style TV- and my PC monitor is DVI too.

I'm happy with the card's performance have been, playing Batman Arkham Asylum and COD4, with no real issues on my monitor 1280by 1024.

I've upgraded from a Sapphire x1900gt- slightly more versatile than the new card as it also had inputs through SVIDEO which i found useful- for ps2 etc.- although output graphics on the new card is a lot better.

Haha, yeah, I know how you feel. I upgraded from a 7600GS, so it was a massive improvement and its nice feeling being able to turn a lot of the settings up ^.^
