ATI Hybrid Graphics

Hey guys,

I'm planning to do an upgrade to a Phenom II X3 720BE and 785G based Gigabyte board and I've got a question about the integrated graphics.

At the moment, I've got a Radeon HD 4830 and the board I plan to get has its own graphics. My question is that how does ATI Hybrid Graphics actually work? Would it be possible for me to use the integrated graphics when I need low power consumption (thereby switching off my discrete graphics card) and having the HD 4830 fire up when I need the power, or is the whole Hybrid Graphics setup limited only to the lower end cards?

I've googled around but the answers I've found a tiny bit vague.

Hybrid Graphics does not work with your video card. the 4200HD or w/e integrated graphics u got on the 785G chipset will only do hybrid crossfire with the 3xxx generation video cards.
