PowerBook G4 15" LCD display goes black

I have the same model and a few weeks ago started to have EXACTLY the same problem. Video only works on external monitor.
Any advice on how to solve the problem will be appreciated.

If you look closely, do you see any images at all, or does the screen appear to be entirely off?

If the former, then you probably have a bad backlight inverter, otherwise, a bad LCD, graphics driver.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't realise I was bumping the topic.
Dngrsone - it's impossible to be a bad graphics driver. It's more likely the LCD cable and inverter board on it's way out. About £15 for replacement parts for a DIY fix. If I get the money I'll buy spares/repairs I really want an Aluminium Powerbook anyway, price an Aluminium Powerbook's LCD Inverter board.

bad drivers arent impossible. they may be done by apple but it wouldnt be the first time drivers have been messed up by an update. I used to see loads of aluminium imacs that would glitch only on 10.5.4, had to roll back to 3 just to get the graphics fixed.

Anyway was going to say the inverter or lcd panel.

It seems to be a common problem with Aluminium Powerbooks. I haven't seen it happen to an iBook or the Titanium Powerbook. I definitley think it's the LCD inverter board. Sets you back around £15.
