Um, "No!"

Cupertino must feel differently about it or they'd be doing it.

Oh, great response. Haha

Unfortunately, they have their thoughts, but that's why 96% of consumers are still using PCs. It's not they don't like Macs, they don't hit the right price range. Believe it or not, just because they're not doing it doesn't mean they're right and the consumers are wrong. :O

The Macbook, for instance, only has a 13" screen, there is no middle ground. There needs to be a mid range laptop. There also needs to be a mid range stand alone tower, and Apple could really hit it off big from there.

MacBook:
13" Screen
1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
512 MB DDR2
60 GB HDD
Intel GMA950
Superdrive

Dell
15.4" Screen
1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1 GB DDR2
80 GB HDD
Intel GMA 950
8x DVD+-R/RW

I could do the same in the desktop range with Mac Pro or Mac Mini too.

Where are the prices?

And you are comparing a 15 inch Dell to a 13 inch Macbook. A better comparision would be a 13 inch Dell.

So a 150 dollar difference, that isn't a major gap, especially considering how much thinner and smaller the macbook is. Plus its got the isight, which easily makes up for about 50 dollars or so.

But for people in a tigher price range (which most people are, or that's all they want to spend, it is a difference).

iSight is exactly what I'm talking about. I don't want that, I don't want to pay for that. That's the justification about the whole thing that I truely hate.

However...

Macbooks can run both Vista and Mac OS X...Dell or equiv can't.

If i need Win software, I'll just run Windows. OS X isn't neccisarily worth the added cost. Boot camp is still a pain, and doesn't run Vista yet.

Paralells, you legally need Ultimate to run in a VM, you also will not get the accelerated GUI. Even in VMware fusion, no aero glass.

I'll save and get the dell or equiv. If I want, I'll hack the kernel and run OS X on it anyway.
