Latest Apple Keyboard to work FULLY in windows xp
I have this apple keyboard which i would like to work with windows.
When I first iserted the USB cable into my Windows XP pc, it registered it all and even noticed that it was an apple.
I was pretty suprised windows didnt say its Mircosoft :S
It works ok but still a number of keys dont work. F13 - 16, ALL 4 Function keys (Vol UP, Vol DOWN, MUTE, EJECT)
Now i have been using a trial version off AppleK Pro, which is a Apple kernal driver tool for windows so your keyboard from macintosh works allright.
Though i would like a FREE program or EXPERT advice on how to Map the keys right. Every remapper was limited to standard 101 keyboards
Also helpfull would be that if you have the same problem leave some lines

You've sure shown how immature you can be since you joined: Being incredibly rude to me for making a suggestion and spam threads such as your "Folding on the Moon"... how 'bout you show some respect for those who are just trying to help. And you DO NOT own this thread, you've just started it.

I'm not complety sure if it will work since i dont own 1, but if your planning on gaming just wanted to let you no, wireless mouses are terrible because usually there seems to be a slight delay compared to wired mouses.

Have you tried...?
Can you see the scan codes for F13-16 in windows XP?
Using the scan codes visible in windows (e.g. PassMark Keyboard Test from download.com) and mapping the scan codes in the registry (see Scan Code Mapper For Windows at microsoft.com ), I've been able to map the power button to mute and rearrange the windows and alt keys on a Sun Type 6 USB Keyboard. I haven't been able to get the volume/contrast buttons and the left set of buttons to work b/c I can't see the scan codes in windows.
If you can see the scan codes, it should be easy to map the scan codes. (You might use Keymapper.exe to map the keys more easily. Also, note that when you remap keys you may need to either log off or reboot your computer before the new mappings will work.)

Make it work here. Free solution 3 years later
Hello,
You can find some more info based on my own experience on my web site. but I cannot post the link here. Said simple, get Boot Camp and use Transmac to extract the Drivers Disk it contains. Use setup, you are done. To get the whole story see my blog on happytocode dot com.
As the post is very long and the solution is described here I won't get banned from here
Hopefully it'll help
John.
update: note that using the apple drivers and keyboard manager let's you use ALL the keys on the keyboard. F13 to F19 are easy to get. Some PC keyboard have even more keys then that. The tougthest problem was with the eject CD key. It's working. At least with BC1.4
