IPod plugged in-->iTunes uninstalled, network connections killed

Hi all,
I have a problem with my iPod mini. When I plug it in my PC, the result usually is:
uninstallation of iTunes, disconnection from both local network and Internet, failure to connect to external HD.
The only way to restore all this is to unplug iPod and reboot.
Everything works fine on another PC (at work), so I only can update it there...
Did anybody ever had the same problem? Can it be a virus? (Windows Live OneCare does not detect it)
And... what to do!?
Thank you

for one stop using live one care, but thats off the point...

when you take it to work try and put it in hard drive mode... IE you can plug it into any PC you want, but itunes wont update it, and find some software that will let you put music on your pod.
