Arrow IBook G4 with red light on charger

Hello,

I have this problem of starting up my iBook G4. It doesn't turn on at all when I press the power button.

At first, I thought it was low on battery. So, I charged it and the red light is on no matter how long I charged it. May I know what does the red light represents?

Does anyone encounter this problem?

Thanks in advance, guys.

Im not certain here, I specialize with Powermacs to be honest, I think the battery has failed and won't hold charge. my friends acer laptop barely holds 5 minutes. It's also common to find users who have had to replace there Ibook/Powerbook/Macbook chargers as well as their batteries. I know for certain it's not a logic board fault. A new logic board is basically a new mac laptop. The red led either means it's charging the battery and/or the powerpack has failed. The red LED can also mean its charging the battery, but the battery won't hold charge, so it thinks it's still charging.

red light usually signifies a dead power management unit. The connector to the power supply plugs straight into the port on the PMU, which sits right underneath the speaker (about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch wide). You could try resetting it (keypress combi)
