To use Emoji keyboard, from the iPhone home screen, tap Settings, tap General, and tap Keyboard. Under Keyboard, tap "International Keyboards", tap "Add New Keyboard...", and select "Emoji".
Exit Settings, launch Bento, edit the entry in a field, and when the keyboard appears, tap the World icon in the lower left, and you can then enter the desired emoticon.
