Backing up i-Tunes

I was wondering if there is an alternative way to back up my iTunes other than the option it gives you. When I go to back up my library through iTunes it doesn't work right. I'm going to be buying a laptop soon and I want to transfer all my music to it so I can free up space on my desktop.

I know you said you tried the backup feature, but take a look at this. It's a step by step guide from Apple on how to do it.

transfer your library

I'm assuming you can use an iPod to copy it over, CD, DVD or a usb thumb drive to do this. Let me know if this works.

Yea, I'll have to check this out when I get home. I'm hoping this works. My worry is all my music is either off a cd or torrent files and Apple is really into supporting what you buy off of iStore and kind of ignoring the rest. And if I were to do it over USB I might need to buy an external hard drive since I have over 20GB of music and growing. I'll check it out tonight, might have to wait for the new laptop to know for sure.

Thanks for the link though.
