ASUS or macbook?
I want to get myself a small light laptop, right now I am looking at the ASUS U3 Series U3S-A1W, right now it is $1400 in newegg. But I found a up to 41% off refurbished macs sale in dealstudio. Just can't decide which should be a better choice?

Specs of the ASUS? And of the refurbed macs you are looking at?
And you can get a brand new penryn based macbook for under $1400 which is what I would do. ![]()

Personally i'd prefer an asus over a mac, simply because i don't like Apple, nor their software. Asus also has an excellent warranty.

WOAH!!!!!!!
Hold on a minute there skippy!! Almost missed this thread. lucky for you I did not ![]() IF you are going to get a $1400 laptop forget a frickin overpriced mac(used?!?) You got to be kidding me. Look at something more along the lines of this.--->Laptop worth $1400 It has a T9300-2.5GHz-6MB Cache on a 800FSB(Mac ain't running on that ![]() 320GB HDD Nvidia 9500MGS graphics 3GB of ram Bluetooth/Wireless N and a pretty cool finger print reader ![]() and that was the first laptop I found at Newegg. There are probably even better one on there for $1400. Macs are cute, but just don't cut it compared to other laptops at that price range. ![]() |

Yet the other laptop suggested was even more subpar?
And the hardware is very comparable.. and it runs an operating system that won't crap out on you in a month. I also don't like that fact that those laptops are running 1.5 and 3gb of ram.. it's just such an odd number, and gets rid of any chance of dual channel. And you have to remember, hardware isn't the only thing to look at in a laptop. You also have size and weight. The macbook is smaller and smaller laptops are notoriously more expensive. It's also right around 5 lbs and very portable. The asus you suggest is nearly 6 lbs, now the one drumzy suggested is about 4lbs which is rather light. However i noticed, that 512mb of the ram is onboard... that means very limited upgradability, and onboard ram is just gross.... Last edited by bball4ever39 : April 17th, 2008 at 05:42 PM. |
