Damn those people did more with that hatemail to put me off buying a Mac than any FUD campaign by MS or Intel ever could. I mean would you want to be associated with the sort of people that think like that?
It kinda makes me chuckle that one of them quoted Luxology, a 10 month old company which has yet to release a single commercial product as the "founders [sic] of Lightwave" Odd, every edition of Lightwave I've had since I started using it in the early 90s has been produced by Newtek.
One of them did raise a valid point though. Synthetic benchmarks are basically bullshit. Theres way too much ...ahem... lets be charitable and call it "optimizing" (rather than "cheating") going on in the synthetic benchmarking market. Remember ATi and Q3A? I want to see some figures rendering a Lightwave scene file or doing a gaussian blur with a ridiculous radius before I start to blow any trumpets about either Macs OR Intels.
