3G iPhone
Coming in June...anyone planning on getting one? I am--my Verizon contract ended in March. I can't wait until I can switch to ATT and buy a shiny new iPhone

How is it necro? The iphone is still relevant to many people and many folks are still deciding to buy one. I thought I would add my 2 cents. Not to mention the thread was still close to the top of the forum.

Do you just go around calling everything necro?
Its a ne cro because the last post was back in may of this year. A neco is bringing back a thread that hasnt had postings in over a period of time Usually a month and also it was not relevant to the forums

Well since this is already necroed, might as well give my iPhone impressions after having it for about 5 and a half months:
The App Store is by far and away the best thing about the phone. There is a free version of nearly every pay app, and there is an app for EVERYTHING. I can't believe I ever went without Yelp, Facebook Mobile, WhitePages, Showtimes (movie listings), Shazam (Song ID app), Pandora Radio, etc etc...especially the maps app that comes with the phone--indispensable.
I am just fine with the typing, I know some people complain about the lack of a physical keyboard, but I tried using a friend's BlackBerry a few weeks ago and found that I was actually slower typign on it than I am on my iPhone.
I love how texts show up like an iChat conversation, so you can see previous messages.
Jailbreaking gives you access to even more apps, like Cycorder, which turns the still pictures camera into a video camera.
My one complaint--while the screen is incredibly scratch resistant to being dropped, and large objects like keys hitting it, it has basically no resistance to small grains of dirt/dust. There is a smallish bit of dust that seems to have gotten under the screen somehow, but my biggest beef is that twice I tried to clear off smudges which my thumb, only to have some nearly grain of rock/sand scratch the screen when I slid my thumb across it.

Get some screen protectors, the ones from the apple store while expensive are very good ones. Static cling vs an adhesive and they do a great job of protecting the screen.
I also prefer the feel of them to the bare screen as well.

The entire time that I am on Wifi, I am going to get better battery life by having 3G off. Even though I will be using the Wifi radio, it still has 3G on and running. And I believe you are mistaking the Wifi "browing" battery life with actual standby time.
