30gb ipod dead battery

im about to buy a 30 gb ipod with a dead battery for $40 which i will eventualy replace, but in the mean time will it work when pluged in to the wall? how much is the replacement battery?

Batteries are cheap... just go to eBay and make sure you get the correct capacity.

I don't think you can play it with just the AC power cord in, at least that's what my boss said, and he's looking at replacing his battery.

ok i see so there is no way for me to check if the ipod works or not with out puting in a new battery?
