Will AMD make a Proc. beyond the Socket AM2?
Everytime I go to buy new hardware something newer/cheaper comes out with in weeks of that purchase. Direct X 10 is upon us and it's time for me to upgrade. I bought an AMD 3200+ Socket 939 pretty much at the time they were released. Very shortly after, AMD switched to Socket 940 and shortly after that again they switched to Socket AM2.
What I need to know, before I buy, is will AMD be switching there socket right after I buy an AM2 Proc. and accomidating motherboard? I've looked at their websight and see nothing to indicate a Socket change but that means little if they want to keep it a secret for some reason. Please help! GEXY1 |

Yep snod got it... AM2 and AM2+ are completely compatible... AM2 cpu with an AMD2+ mobo, vice versa. And like snod said the biggest thing is the power saving, which will be a very nice feature

It's safe for AM2 for a while. Next upgrade will be AM3 and that a quite a few years off.

Thats becuase the only real thing AM2 brought was DDR2. The CPU's are realitive the same from AM2 and 939.
