Probably the e6600.

I'm not entirely up on all models and partnumbers, but the Core architecture should just about beat the generation old (soon to be 2 generations old) K8 architecture hands down.

That said, you may want to wait for some one else the chirp in.

Now, all that said - for the love of God, ignore anything you read in YouTube comments. YouTube comment sections contain some of the most inane and/or asinine things it's ever been my misfortune to read.

Personally I prefer the intel core 2 duo e6600 to AMD X2 6000+.

When you compare directly like this, the Core2 always wins out. Thats not to say the AMDs are not capable which they are, the Intels just have that much more going for them.
Honestly for the price, I would actually suggest the E8400 over the E6600 since the 8400 is newer technology and currently running around the same price in many places.
Newegg:
E6550 = $170
E8400 = $170

the E6x00s are getting hard to find and even the E6x50s are being replaced with the E8XXX and E7XXX series chips.

Yup, I'd forget about the E6600 and go for the E8400. Runs cooler than the E6600 too!
