if youre going to be throwing away youre latest system, i suggest you go pay a visit to the ATI flashing thread in teh video card section. Try flashing that radeon 9550 to radeon 9700 just for kicks.
(and i say ready to trash because you CAN mess up your vcard)i'd suggest you go for a core 2 quad core e6600, 2gb or 4gb of ram (4gb might actually register as 3.25gb - 3gb 32bit OS memory barrier) and atleast 600-700 watt psu. Im not really sure about motherboards though as i've lost track of intel's offerings. As for video card, i;d suggest a 8800 640mb gts. For example, you can buy this in a combo: 8800 640mb gts with 2x2gb ocz 800mhz ddr2 $561.98 all thats left is the processor core2 quad 6600 $319.99 motherboard (someone suggest one) power supply ocz 700w gamexstream $139.99 And case. Oh yeah, not to mention sound card and hard drives... lets see.. without the motherboard, sound card case and hard drives that brings the total up to 1022$ (before taxes) Hmmm. Well. i guess that leaves 378$ for taxes and those three components. unless you can find better deals or want dual core instead of quad or a lesser vcard. ![]() hmmm, rather interesting sound card. First time i see one for pci-e x1 or x4. clabs x-fi xtreme audio varpak $50 you could get a core 2 e6550 instead of the quad for 183$ core 2 e6550 and a nice 500gb hard drive seagate 500gb 130$ And a random motherboard that looks good to me Gigabyte 130$ as for a case... Weellllll take your pick Cases ouh.. ouch.. 1332$ before taxes and cases with q core and 1195$ with the core2. Well. i guess there goes the quad. ![]() Last edited by dragon-fly : July 31st, 2007 at 12:16 AM. |

Here's my system (All from newegg)
CoolerMaster Centurion5 ATX Mid-Tower Case(Best case ever, only $45-50) Rosewill 600W SLI Ready Power Supply Asus Crosshair 590 SLI Mobo AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.8ghz Processor Kingston HyperX 2GB(2x1GB) DDR2 800mhz RAM Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB Video Card Phillips 20x SATA DVD Drive Western Digital SATA 320GB 7,200RPM Hard Drive EDIMAX Wireless Ethernet PCI Card Extra Goodies: Thermaltake 5.25" Bay to 3.25" Bay converter with 120mm LED fan The motherboard comes with a separate HD 8 channel sound card and Array Microphone All of this and Windows XP Home for about $1400 without a Monitor. $400 of this came from the 8800GTS video card, so if you don't spend $400 on a video card then the system could be cheaper. Or more expensive if you want 2 video cards for SLI (I haven't done it yet). Pretty good eh? |
