Is there a better processor for a Socket A motherboard than my processor i have atm... i have a single core 2.0ghz, just wandering because i really do not want to upgrade my motherboard. because then i will need more ram, new graphics card... ect.

i see... Well so in a way should i just upgrade my motherboard? i have ddr ram but i don't know if that will fit in a latest motherboard which supports Quad-core, because i need a decent cpu for my games. |

there are no dual core processors for socket A, but you can get dual socket motherboards that support 2x Athlon MP processors, but you'd have to track down some Athlon MP chips. I have seen some boards+chips+ram pass around various forums for $100 or so...but really unless you want to stick with this old socket I would put that money elsewhere.
These days you can realistically a new dual core chip, 2gb of ram, and a new motherboard for $100-$150, and thats without going bargain hunting. A good example of this would be this E1400 and Biostar G31 motherboard combo for $85, and add in another $23 for a 2gb kit of DDR2 800 and you are looking at $108 for a whole new PC essentially. Granted, if you are playing a lot of games you'll need a PCI Express graphics card, but something that'll be suitable for gaming at 1280x1024 in all of todays most demanding games, woudl set you back another $50-$60 upfront, a good example would be this HD 4650 for $40 after rebate.

There are AMD Socket 939 boards that support Athlon64 X2s and support AGP, however this is rather outdated technology.
