Question about Phenom II 555 BE
Guys, i plan to making my own PC. My friends suggested me to go with AMD processors. After a though search i came across with Phenom II 555 BE. I find it to be a very good processor, but when i compare it with similar-performance Intel processors, the price of Phenom II 555 BE is almost half of Intel processor's. Because of this big difference in the price i was not sure if Phenom II 555 BE was really good. Can someone, who has this processor, comment on this? Is it a fast, reliable processor, or is it better to go with an Intel one?

You will find that the AMD processor works just as well as the Intel one. The Intel name carries a huge premium, which is why AMD prices are so much more reasonable.

I have the same processor as your looking at. It is a high end dual core CPU with overclocking features. Most AM3 motherboards now feature the unlock of cores in which the 555 BE has 2 cores locked into it.
For the price you pay for, you get more performance. The Intel competitor to this particular processor is the E8500 (3.16Ghz Core 2 Duo). Now Dual core and Core 2 Duo are a bit different in architecture, but they are relatively close.
With the Unlock feature on certain motherboards, you can get a Quad core CPU for the price of a dual core, in which would be compared against the Intel Q9400. AMD is generally cheaper with some features for gamers that are appreciated more than Intel.
I am an Intel lover, but was shocked to see this 555 BE in action. For Windows 7 64bit Scoring without overclocking gave it unlocked @4 cores a 7.3. Which in most cases is above satisfactory levels for the price you paid.
