Overclocking on a ASUS MB

I bought an ASUS M3N72-D motherboard and an AMD 2+ 9950 CPU and 8 GB patriot 1066 memory. I have read that this processor can easily be overclocked to 3.0 GHtz.

The MB documentation is confusing. Here are the options:

Overclock option = 3, 5, 8 and 10%
CPU VTT Voltage = Auto, or 0.8000v to 1.6750v
Memory Voltage = Auto, or 1.978v to 2.490v
1.2V HTVoltage = Auto, or 1.309v to 1.525v
NB Chip Voltage = Auto, or 1.213v to 1.409v
CPU Multiplier = Auto, or 5x to 11.5x
CPU Frequency = adjustable according to CPU
PCIE Clock = 100 to 200

I am a newbie to overclocking so I am thoroughly confused.

Can anyone help?

Clancy

I would advise , to hold your horses a bit.

Read the book of the MB so to have a more complete understanding, about Bios settings and hardware limitations.

Better CPU cooling , or even PSU, could be things that will require your attention too.

I do overclock systems , for more than 15 years, but not with out having full knowledge , of how much stress, its one part can takes.

Stable OC called , to operate the weakest part,
at the top speed, that it can handle.
