may i know what is the maximum OC limit for amd 4800+ X2? Is it possible to hit 2.75 GHz?

2.75Ghz is very possible.

The limit is very much individual chip specific, the board and cooling with also effect it very much.

You can take ram completely out of the equation though.

Oh no, i dont have 4 sticks.. its not good to have too much ram stick. 2 is optimum.Right now im 2.7 and climbing my way to 2.75 GHz.. and then to 2.8 if possible.

I'm new to Overclocking and I have a 4800+ Toledo. I've been running it at the stock speed (2.4 GHz) for almost a year, however I am now interested in OC'ing. Whatever I do I can't seem to get CPU speed past 2.5 GHz.

I have a Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Motherboard
and 2GB (2x1GB) Patriot DDR 400 3-4-4-8

I am also short on cash right now and using the stock CPU cooler

Is it possible to hit 2.7 GHz?

This is what you want to check.
- RAM. If your ram is too slow then it won't allow you to overclock your cpu that much
- Voltage. Set it to manual, never auto.
Keep me posting.
P.S ( 2.7 is very possible even with stock cooling. Mine is 2.78GHz. That's the best i can overclock with my stock cooling)

What kind of power Supply do you have???
You can have the BEST cpu and the BEST ram.......don't mean chit if your PSU is crap and can't supply the voltage needed

My PSU is not the best, but I believe it should be sufficient.
