Gaming rig upgrade - suggestions?

Hey Guys,
I am looking for suggestions on building a new system (motherboard, processor, ram) I already have the rest. I guess what I want to know is what would be a very efficient and long lasting setup that will play games coming out for the next 3 or so years. If I had to place a budget on these 3 items i'd say $350'is plus or minus some. Some main things I think about are Phenom vs. X2, and how big of a difference there really is in gaming (and the future of gaming for the next couple years). I currently have a Zotac 8800gt AMP edition (2000mhz clock speed), and would like to go up to 4 gigs of ram. I have most trouble determining the strongpoints of motherboards, and ram, as they all seem to be roughly the same.. what would be the main things to look for? thanks in advance!
