CPU Voltage question...
Hello Forum,
First time for me here XD
My question is what can happen if I changed in the bios the voltages to manual (it was all Auto)
The reason why I did that is because my cpu was almost burning, with Prime 95 it easly reached in a few seconds to 70c+ so I just put everything on manual and suddenly the cpu didnt pass the 62c
I tried playing BFBC2 which is used to reach 70c while playing and it gets to 60-61 no more.
So can it damage my cpu, and other hardware? is there a way to put it on auto and adjust the cpu voltage so it doesnt burn?
oh, and does it affects my performance somehow?

It is best to set the bios to default settings and then provide a good CPU cooling, which implies a good thermal paste between the CPU and cooler, extra fans inside the case ...

From the information you've provided, it sounds like when you put it to manual, you're dropping the voltage.
Can you put it on auto and adjust the CPU voltage? Probably not, because manually adjusting the CPU voltage is counter intuitive to a setting of "Auto."
Sounds like in auto, you're getting quite hot. Might be best to verify that auto is selecting the proper voltages. If it is right, you'll want to investigate your cooling - it could be that the cooler is not making good contact to the CPU package.
When you're manually setting the CPU voltage, you could be "undervolting" it. This is sometimes done by laptop owners to try to increase battery life; however, whenever you run a chip outside of specification, the effect on longevity is unknown. You may not be hurting the performance any. To the contrary, "overvolting" - which may be happeneing if "auto" is selecting too high a voltage - can also damage the chip and decrease longevity.
Chances are, if you're picked a CPU that's compatible with your motherboard, that it's operating at the right voltage.

perhaps even to some older motherboard that is wearing jumpers or pins to change the CPU multipliers, all should return to the default setting. As the archnaid best to work at the factory intended.
