Computer Keeps Restarting!

Hi there,

I have a computer bought about 1 year ago with the following information:

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+
2.01 GHz, 1.50 GB RAM
Microsoft Windows Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

This computer is mainly used for graphics purposes, thus mainly using Photoshop CS3 and Firework CS3 at the same time, the issue is that my computer keeps restarting several times a day about 6 to 9 times and, most of the time my works get lost,

can you please help me?

Regards

Windows 2002 professional? Never heard of it. We call that XP Pro...

A self-restarting computer can mean a lot of things.

Most likely, Windows is busted, and set to `reboot on crash'. Solution: format and re-install

If not that, maybe your cooling is insufficient and your CPU gets too hot. Clean out dust from all fans in your case.

If that doesn't help either, your memory may be shitting out. Try removing the modules one at a time and see if the problem persists.

If the problem still remains, you're down to either shotgun debugging or using this as an excuse to build a new rig...

First off Welcome to DEV
I agree with Itsacon on the dust and heat issue.
Another thing you can do to help us help you is....go to Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced/Startup and Recovery/Settings and uncheck "Start Automatically"

Next time your comp crashes you will get a screen that looks like this

If you can get a picture somehow or post the #'s (near the bottom)we might be able to narrow it down for you.

oops with that restarting problem i forgot that i was called XP Pro hmm as for the cooling i dont think so, coz i took a big normal fan and place it in front to the open CPU and it was still restarting so my only two options are either the memory or the format :S,

BTW i already uncheck the option you mentioned, and when it restart it doesn't show this screen, it just restart without any notice...

well thx for the support, i will try the solutions and let you know !!

Could also be a videocard driver issue
I've had random restarts in the past due to videocard driver issues
