I am using Intel Pentium Processor, But I am only using my PC in games and Browsing internet but mostly in gaming. I can play games sometimes 18hrs/day...I've noticed every long time of gaming, my PC turn to be hang and I hate that thing! somebody said I'm going to shift to another processor, the AMD. but when I ask them why. they can't give me the good answer...that's why I joined to this forum.
What are the difference of two? why is it AMD is more reliable than Intel? in terms of gaming?? |

First of all,
That was a long while ago before the Intel Core 2 Duos and Core 2 Quads came out. These NEW Intel chips surpass AMD chips and is way better at gaming. Tim |

Well first off.. let me say you should think about getting outside.. playing video games is one thing.. but 18 hours a day...
But really.. AMD vs intel depends on a lot of things, the mains things are budget and what you are going to be used for. So knowing these things would help. Oh and mrsafety, intel chips tend to clock quite a bit better now the AMD sadly ![]()

First of all, like 18 hours a day is really too much ... except if it is football manager you are talking about.
Now, about PC being slower after long time running some game. It is not because of processor. Nor Intel, nor AMD will slow down because it is used for long time. Sometimes games and operating system are badly programmed and they have something called "memory leak". Program (game in this case) allocate memory and "forgets" to "free" allocated memory after it no longer use it. Also, program (game) might buffering a lot of things. This leads to operating system thinks that it needs more memory than it needs in reality because it can not realocate allocated memory when program needs it again. After some time this will inevitably lead to the stage when not enough physical memory is available and computer slows down. There are two things you can do at this point, one is to get more memory (although this will just delay critical point) and second is to reboot computer and continue with destroying remaining pieces of your social life (sometimes just restarting game can be enough). |

Dear mphill,
You have a good point! That is probably one of the main reasons it slows down after long playing! Windows itself could also have this??? Just wondering?? Tgangsta miracledrywash |

Personally I think Intel has been way ahead of the game just a little after the old Barton Cores.
