AMD Tri-core processors on newegg finally

It looks like AMD is finally ready to bring the tri-core chips into retail market, with the launch of the $165 8650 (2.3ghz, 3.5mb L2, 95w TDP), $195 8750 (2.4ghz, 3.5mb L2, 95w TDP).

The 8650 seems like a pretty good deal, but at $195 the 8750 is priced directly against the X4 9500 (though the new B3 9550 is only $199), so assuming the prices settle down a bit in the coming weeks, these could be great value chips for a lot of us.

Yes, this is pretty exciting to see indeed. However, I too am waiting for the prices to fall still. It's likely AMD's tri cores are so closely priced to their quad core brethren because they're still costing AMD the same overhead and fab time in manufacturing. It's been a while since I've read up on them, but they are still understood as Phenom quad cores with one core disabled, correct?

But really.. if those chips settle down more in between the x2s and x4s they could be awesome chips.

Time to go find some benchmarks.

Yes, I want to see how these chips perfor since it they look like a great deal I mean 166$... might be my new cpu to replace my E2140 since the Q9300 is a bit overpriced imo... but I don't know on how much it will beat the 8650.

it doesnt. It cant even touch the dual core 65nm e66_ _ series yet alone the 45nm.

overclocking is good and u can hit around 3.1 but the core 2s
still kick its ass

It's also cheaper than dual cores.. it fits a part of the market that is pretty bare right now.. in between amd's budget chips and intels main stream dual cores.

They seem to be excellent chips for the money.

Did you go look up some reviews? Everything I saw has them exactly in between an x2 and an x4...

from what l saw it got destroyed by the core 2\s in the same pricing bracket and the x2's so yeah
